I have previously shared”The Stress Files” and finally you’re going to get the rest. Reef The Lost Cauze is straight out of Philly, he is a member of the hip-hop collective Army of the Pharaohs. Anyways, in 2001 he released his first record entitled “The High Life” and began performing live on stage. In 2003 he released his second album “Invisible Empire”. 2 years after his third record was released entitled Feast Or Famine, the follow up A Vicious Cycle was released in 2008.

Lyrical monster, martial arts, chess and Gang Starr Foundation should describe Afu-Ra in a well mannered sense. After first appearing on Jeru Da Damaja (I will do a post on Jeru in the nearest future) two first albums (The Sun Rises in the East & Wrath of the Math) on the tracks Mental Stamina and Physical Stamina, Afu-Ra released his debut single ‘”Whirlwind Thru Cities” in 1998. After the second single, “Defeat”, in 1999, he finally released his debut album Body of the Life Force in 2000. In 2002 the “Life Force Radio” record was released. Three years later, after a compilation album (I see no reason to share this), he finally released his third record “State of the Arts”. Trough the years, Afu-Ra has proved that he deserves his place in this ugly world of hip-hop, working with class A artist and beatmakers like; Dj Premier, Royce Da 5’9, Jeru Da Damaja, Guru, Big Daddy Kane and many more. Afu-Ra was expected to release an album in 2007, we’ll just have to wait and see.

People say that the south can’t rap. I partially agree. There is a lot of shit coming out from the south these days. But the Dungeon Family hip-hop collective, which include rappers from Goodie Mob, Outkast and so on, is based in Atlanta. And from Dungeon Family comes Witchdoctor. Let me take you back to 1997 when his first record was released, entitled …A S.W.A.T Healin’ Ritual.

Yup, Cyne consists of two emcees (Akin and Cise Star) and two producers (Enoch and Speck). Taking up topics from this to that over mellow, jazz-influenced beats this is one hell of a group. Canadian rap? Really? Yes really! Classified has been keeping it down since the 90’s. His first release was in 1995, the album named Times Up, Kid, along with every album he released up to 2003s Trial & Error got almost no recognition. Since 1995 Classified has evolved from the old-school beats and rapping, but still does his thing lyrically and even get airplay. Classified have released twelve records, and one “Best of” album.

Just discovered Laws, and his technical and straight lyrics over mostly sampled and electronic beats, including a song on Your Future Favourite Rapper were they sampled MGMT’s Electric Feel, so you get both. Anyways, the records have been on repeat all day, and are definitely something to check out if you like rappers like Lupe Fiasco.

Murs (Nick Carter) was first a part of the group 3MG, they released one album before joining the Living Legends collective. It wasn’t before 2003 Murs released his first official solo album, entitled The End of the Beginning.

Murs worked with many rappers and producers, and has been part of more hiphop-groups than what most rappers can brag about, like; Felt. Murs and Slug (Atmosphere) released two albums. The Netherworlds, The Righteous Brothers Project, The Underbosses and The Invincible(s).

After The End of the Beginning, Murs released his second solo-album Murs 3:16: The 9th Edition, wich was entaierly produced by 9th Wonder. He earlier released another album with 9th Wonder, titled Murray’s Revenge in 2006, and last but not least they released Sweet Lord in 2008. Same year Murs released his first major label record titled Murs For President, released on Warner Bros.
